A personal message from Chris McGhee, CEO & Co-Founder of Current Health

Today, I am sharing that Current Health is once more an independent business and that I am returning as CEO & Co-Founder to build Current Health into the world’s largest healthcare organization. A number of former members of my team, including my co-founder Stewart Whiting, are also returning.

When I started Current Health back in 2014, it was because of my own grandmother. She was like so many patients in today’s healthcare system: she had COPD, dementia and heart failure. She was registered blind and had poor mobility. She was recurrently admitted to hospital in her final years for things that could and should have been managed at home.  Only in her last days was she able to access palliative care at home. This was of enormous comfort to her and my family in her final moments.

Compared to 2014, many more patients across the US now have access to healthcare outside the hospital. That’s because of passionate clinicians and leaders across the US driving change, and I am immensely proud that Current Health has played a role in this. But, ultimately we are still in the early innings of the shift from hospital-based care to home and community-based care. There’s much more to do and Current Health has much more to give.

Current Health has become the leading platform for hospital-at-home, oncology-at-home—including cell and gene therapies—and in a number of other care-at-home markets. More than one-third of all patients in the US who have had a hospital-at-home experience have been cared for through the Current Health platform. We’ve helped more than 70,000 patients across care models receive the healthcare they need from home. We’re proud of the work we’ve done so far and look forward to the next phase of this journey.

We’ll be recommitting to our mission and building a world-leading organization with an integrated and intelligent solution for shifting more healthcare into home and community settings.

Stay tuned and make sure you follow us on LinkedIn to see further updates in the coming weeks and days.
