Wigan’s Virtual Hospital Wards are a Success

Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) have been at the forefront of virtual wards, enabling patients to stay at home while receiving close monitoring through technology. A total of 1,620 patients with various health issues have been successfully treated on the borough’s virtual wards. The virtual wards initially focused on a medical pathway, initially catering to respiratory patients and later expanding to include individuals with other medical conditions.
