Best Buy’s New Healthcare Unit is all about Bringing the Hospital Home

Although Best Buy is commonly associated with electronics like laptops and flat-screen TVs, the company is shifting its focus to healthcare. Best Buy has trained its Geek Squad members in medical device technology and plans to send them to patients’ homes to deliver necessary tech, such as a heart monitor, for virtual appointments with their care provide. The Geek Squad will also assist the patient or their family in setting up the device. Best Buy’s Current Health platform, which the company acquired for $400 million in 2021, will allow patients to connect with their healthcare providers. Best Buy has established partnerships through Current Health with five of the largest health systems in the US, including Mount Sinai Health System and NYU Langone Health in New York City, and is seeking to partner with more hospitals nationwide.
